Martin Leary is an establish rock n roll singer songwriter from Glasgow, Scotland and his upcoming new single 'Watch The Sun Burn Your Eyes' is released this Friday, the 19th of February.
At the end of last year, Leary released his 'All In Good Time' EP, a fine five song collection that showcased his natural talent to perfection - single release 'Sleeps Alone' was particularly impressive as was the strings version of the title track. Leary is a musicians musician, that much is clear.
'Watch The Sun Burn Your Eyes' undeniably has a foundation in rock n roll - a familiar rhythm that is awash with guitar. The melody here is radio-friendly yet there is a certain coolness to Leary not unlike Richard Ashcroft.
Martin: “The song is about the frustrations of modern day life, finding ‘real love’ right now, especially in lockdown, is going on dating apps - to me that filtered cv dating is brutal.”
'Watch The Sun Burn Your Eyes' is lyrically deep too:
“The song has lots of meanings: you’re desperately looking for hope so long it hurts? Perhaps the future’s so bright you can’t take it? Or you’re prepared to take the pain in hope for better?”
Leary is on an upwards trajectory with this new single perhaps being his finest work to date. One thing is for certain is that 2021 is going to be a huge year for him.
