Power-rockers Spear Of Destiny released their new album 'Ghost Population' this past Friday and they have now also announced a mammoth nationwide winter tour.
Starting in Leeds this Tuesday, the tour takes in an astonishing twenty-three dates including stops in Hull, London, Newcastle and Glasgow. Tickets are available here.
'Ghost Population' is Spear Of Destiny's fifteenth studio album. Forming almost forty years ago, their early career was troublesome until the band reformed in the late 1990's. Their back catalogue was re-issues and the band, under the power of ringleader Kirk Brandon, played sold out shows at London's 100 Club and the Ritz in Manchester.
Now, in 2022, Spear Of Destiny are back out on the road in support of their new album. Of 'Ghost Population', Kirk said: "The album title came about because of a piece I read online where scientists were researching the available DNA samples from human history — Denisovans, Neanderthals etc. It became clear to them from fragments in the DNA that there was another race back then. They haven’t found out who these people were as yet, but they nicknamed them a ‘Ghost Population’. I applied this in my non-scientific way, and thought of how social engineering has marginalised so much of society, not acknowledging the disenfranchised and writing them out of existence. When someone is no longer talked about, eventually they no longer exist.”
This tour will be the first chance for fans to hear tracks from the new album in a live setting. The band's line-up reads like something out of music history with Adrian Portas (New Model Army), Craig Adams (Sisters of Mercy/The Cult/The Mission) and Phil Martini (Jim Jones and the Righteous Mind) all in the fold.
