The New-York based husband and wife due Ghost Prom recently released their finest single to date. 'Gramma'. This follows two previous releases, including the brilliant 'Swamp Eyes', to be taken from their forthcoming debut album 'Void Sweet Void' which is released on November the 17th via Wally Opus Records.
Cameron and Eden Crosby have created an intense indie-rock song about a grandson's wish to send his grandma off peacefully from this life and into the next. 'Gramma' is a beautifully crafted track. While maintaining an indie-rock ethos, it is lyrically moving with Cameron's authentic vocal delivered with just the right amount of emotion. The chorus here is bordering on anthemic - there is a maturity to their song writing as 'Gramma' tackles a difficult and trying subject in a captivating manner. Described as 'Countrygaze' (and we couldn't think of a better description), Ghost Prom have produced a track that is astoundingly moving and listenable.
Ghost Prom are an intimate band who formed in Vancouver over coffee and guitar. There is an honesty to their writing and a certain vulnerability. The band tackles subjects such as grief and loss as well as addiction and honesty - this is raw, unapologetic music that feels real.
With influences ranging from early Johnny Depp Movies to Pete Doherty, and of course, life itself, Ghost Prom are the real deal. As the band say, "..we invite listeners into our world, sharing their struggles and triumphs as a source of solace and connection...".
'Gramma' is a brilliant yet personal release that more than whets our appetite for their forthcoming debut album.
