The modern-rock project Monroe Moon released their euphoric new track 'Smoke A Cigarette Instead' last month. The laid back five-piece make music making appear effortless yet behind the facade is an emotional and brilliant track.
With elements of classic rock and Blondie-pop, this single is both engrossing and mood changing. Monroe Moon describe themselves best when they say they are "unconventional, unexpected, and unconcerned; three very necessary ingredients for a modern rock project."
'Smoke A Cigarette Instead" is brilliantly produced too. The song was recorded at Electric Moon Studios, in their native Grand Rapids, MI and was engineered by Ryan Jamgotch of the band. The Grammy Award winning producer Mike Exter was also involved in production and the mastering was done by Peter Hewitt-Dutton.
The band's talent hasn't gone unnoticed. They have previously performed at the world famous Whiskey A-Go-Go in Los Angeles and have recently teamed up with the international talent management company, Bohemia Group. The eclectic Monroe Moon consists of Theo Malkin on guitar, Bunny Monroe vocals and keys, Ryan Jamgotch on guitar, Jude Lolly on bass and Zach Dubay on drums.
'Smoked A Cigarette Instead' is a fine introduction to the offbeat world of Monroe Moon. Endearing and captivating, the song is a required listen.
"Sometimes the best part of a romance is before it even begins."
Amen.
