Ed Cosens has released a perfect first single in If with a dramatic video to boot. The Reverend & The Makers guitarist showcases his fine songwriting talent here on a song which is part one of a four part story.
Ed: “The video for ‘If’ is the first of four parts taken from a short film made to accompany the album. The idea for making the film came about whilst I was thinking about the narrative of the album and how the themes of the songs are actually pretty universal. So I wanted to make something a bit different, something that could portray the emotions of the songs in a way that a single music video often doesn’t. Hence it became a 15 minute short film. Shot beautifully and brought to life by Flat Cat Films, it’s something I’m really proud of and can’t wait for people to see!”
If is lifted from Ed’s forthcoming debut solo album Fortunes Favour which is due for release in early 2021.
Best known as the guitarist/bassist and co-songwriter in Reverend & The Makers, Ed has spent 15 years conquering the charts and touring the world, yet leaving the limelight to others.
“It’s only taken 10 years or so for me to find the confidence!” says the self-depreciating singer, who shared stages with Arctic Monkeys members Matt Helders and Alex Turner before the Makers took off. “I subscribe to the fine wine way of thinking - allow things to mature fully before enjoying. Nobody wants to be Lambrusco!”
If is out now and can also be streamed on Spotify here.
