RIVVER are set to release their storming new single ‘Smile Back’ on December the 4th. This will be the band's third release after previous singles ‘Elena’ and ‘Essence’.
Vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matthew Barber:
“Smile Back is about a night out around Christmas last year in indie club Indiependence,Wigan. The verses tell you this story, meeting a girl in a crowded club at about half past one in the morning when you’re a bit tipsy. It is describing that moment when you first meet someone and want to give off the best impression while also being anxious that you might mess up. The chorus of the song is more about that confidence of being a part of a band has given us and shows a change from how different we are on and off stage.”
Recorded over a few days at Hammer Studios in Wigan, ‘Smile Back’ was formed from the bones of a completely different song that the band were working on with drummer Tim Glynn adding a ‘bucket beat’ - a sound that DMA’s and Kings Of Leon are famous for using.
Formed in Wigan in October 2019, RIVVER quickly got together a wide array of different songs and performed their debut gig at The Zanzibar Club in December 2019,supporting Liverpool’s Nocturnal Coast. Since then the band has performed at a variety of different venues such as Phase One Liverpool, Indiependence Wigan and Studio2 in Liverpool.
RIVVER also made their festival debut in January of 2020 performing at the Zombie Shack.
