Sunderland Indie Rockers NOYOU are back with their first single in 2021, 'Underneath The Pain'.
After four releases in 2020 and several livestream performances, the band broaden their musical horizons with a more intense electronic infused sound on this new release. Written by keyboardist Joey Campbell, 'Underneath The Pain' evolved over the lockdown period: “The track explores feelings of insecurity in relationships, as well as holding yourself to a standard no one can possibly achieve and beating yourself up when you fail.”
NOYOU are familiar faces on the North-East circuit, with gigs at Newcastle Riverside and Independent in Sunderland. With it just being announced that live music will return in the summer, there is little doubt that you will see the band at a venue near you before long.
'Underneath The Pain' doesn't hold back any punches - from the get go we are treated to an upbeat synth sound that is unashamedly pop; the sound contemporary indie yet comfortingly familiar. The vocal from singer Connor Jobes is seemingly non-stop, a stream of up tempo lyrics culminating in perhaps one of the most euphoric choruses you will hear all year. This song is a journey, a whirlwind romance, a triumph.
'UNDERNEATH THE PAIN' IS RELEASED THIS FRIDAY FEB THE 26TH AND IS AVAILABLE TO PRE-SAVE HERE
