Next Friday, May the 7th, the Stockton-On-Tees based performer Sarah Johnsone (correct spelling!) releases her debut single, 'Tonight' -which can be pre-saved here.
'Tonight' serves as a great introduction to Johnsone, whose sound has echoes of Mazzy Star - a tender, poignant and altogether reflective sound.
About her debut single, Sarah says: “Having the world suddenly freeze gave me this strange surplus of time to really assess the emotions I was going through in life at the time, and I found song writing was a therapeutic way to do that”.
Sarah's influences are wider ranging, from The Beatles and Amy Winehouse through to Aretha Franklin and Paolo Nutini - but it is her own, unique style that really stands out for us. Johnsone's songwriting here is introspective and brave. A song that requires attention.
Being a new artist, Sarah Johnsone is yet to perform in a live environment but it is our bet that her live performances will be just as captivating as this debut single is.
