The New Ravis, an indie/rock duo hailing from Galway have released their latest single, ‘The City’s Coming Down’. Comprised of vocalist Eoghan Moylan and guitarist Diarmuid Byrne - the two musicians met in college, bonding over their love for music in their final year. After graduating, working for the same company and eventually living together – the two formed the band. Having already supported the likes of fellow Irishmen: Inhaler, they’ve also toured most of Ireland’s legendary venues.
The track, written and recorded by Moylan and Byrne was then mixed, mastered and produced by David Skelton – who has received raving recognition for his work with Irish artists in the past. The single does have a clear influence from one of the duo’s inspirations: The Killers – well, early Killers. The beating drums and slow build up of instruments on the intro before the chorus hits, is reminiscent of the American band. They do have a sound of their own though, it’s much more laidback and seemingly effortless whilst remaining anthemic. It sounds like an instant hit: the production work is sharp – the music doesn’t overshadow the vocals, and vice versa. It’s perfectly balanced.
The New Ravis are set to release more music this year, with a plan for ‘The Sundown Showcase’, an aim to record music and videos in as many unusual places as possible, as well as continuing their efforts to raise money for causes.
‘The City’s Coming Down’ is out now and available to stream on all major platforms.
