After watching his first solo effort climb to number 15 on the Indie Alliance Music Charts, Soda Cracker Jesus has released his second single.
The solo artist, whose real name is Regan Lane, started his solo project as a way of pushing himself towards his own artistic development; his debut single ‘My Anthem’ kicked set him on the right path and showed his ability to inject energy into his sound.
The new single, titled ‘Drug My Soul’, picks up where its predecessor left off and features a driven, heavy drum beat, dirty bass lines and squealing guitar lines.
According to Regan, his music “looks back but lives in today” and there indeed are a multitude of past influences on his latest track; elements of classic post-punk shine through while the vocal performance is reminiscent of classic rock. The track flows well though, and avoids loosing its way amongst its own mayhem.
As was the case with his aforementioned debut, there will also be an accompanying music video for the new track, which is a current work in progress.
Though this is only his second release, Soda Cracker Jesus has made his intentions known and whatever his next release sounds like, I think it’s safe to say it won’t be quiet.
'Drug My Soul' is out now on all major streaming platforms.
