Bournemouth indie-pop artist Carley Varley has returned with her new single 'Going Under', a Paramore inspired track that is the lead single from her 'Seasons' EP. which is due for release this autumn.
Written in 2020 during the first Covid lockdown, the song is lyrically about feeling lost and anxious, while musically 'Going Under 'maintains an upbeat and positive vibe.
The song was formed from a hook Carley came up with while playing her guitar and the whole of 'Going Under' was written that same day. Of the track, Carley says: "I find music to be very healing’ she said. ‘After listening to so many bands over the years, I have finally found the sound I want to sing to and write to. It has been amazing to work on this EP and ‘Going Under’ is just the beginning."
Starting her career as a street busker, Carley Varley moved into indoor venues as her songwriting and performances flourished. Her first EP 'Captured Memories' was released in 2019 and more recently her single 'Since You left' has hit thirty thousand streams on Spotify alone.
'Going Under' is a delight. Varley's endearing vocal and the alt-pop sound she has crafted here make for a terrific single release.
'Going Under' is out now on all major streaming platforms and can be streamed below.
