“The Wire” was released yesterday by London based alternative solo artist Michy Tree. “The Wire” has a powerful message about how we only have one life, we should enjoy it and to stop pretending to be things that don’t exist. It explains the false expectations we have of ourselves driven by the media feeding us lies , telling us how to look and act. Her finest release to date, this new single is a vibrant, pop-rock tune that immediately stands out.
Influenced by The 1975 and Paramore, shades of both bands can be heard on this release. 'The Wire' was recorded at home with the help of producer Max Smith, with the production level being notable. Of her new single. Michy said the song is about "how the media lie to us and how we have all these expectations of ourselves because of all these lies. I think it's better if we just ignore these ideas that are put to us to act and look a certain way and just enjoy life."
With a gig lined up at the 02 Academy in Islington, London for the end of August, Michy Tree's career is progressing, following the release of earlier singles 'Floating House' and 'Cocaine Love'. This new single, 'The Wire' is sure to gain the talented performer further momentum. Its infectious alternative-pop sound is nothing short of incredible.
