Following her singles ‘Quiet Rage’ and ‘Carefree’, Lissy Taylor releases her latest EP ‘Undercurrent’. The lead track ‘Summer Rain’ from her ‘Undercurrent’ EP, elegantly articulates self-love through finding strength to get yourself through a hard time and coming out the other side, with the profound recognition that it's gone but not forgotten. Lissy Taylor said “I envisioned it as being stood out in the rain letting any pain be rinsed away.” The combination of melodic vocals with meticulous harmonies makes this the ultimate indie-pop sad girl summer song, which may be heard alongside artists like Fleurie, Birdy, Florence and The Machine, Billy Marten and Lorde.
“I think this EP delves deeper and has pushed my songwriting to be intensified through processing more complicated emotions. I wrote all of these songs around the same time based on my own feelings and experiences; I think the different songs show the gradual progression of changing emotions that I hope people can connect with. I felt that there was a deeper, darker side to each song that linked them together, which is why I decided on ‘Undercurrent’ for the EP title.”
From the EP, ‘Quiet Rage’ and ‘Carefree’ have already received support from BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, Absolute Radio and BBC Radio 2. The 4 track EP ‘Undercurrent’ delves deep into a whole spectrum of emotions with new tracks ‘Ghost In A Summer Dress’ and ‘Summer Rain’.

Lissy spent her earliest gigs and formative live musical experiences playing in bars and restaurants across the States. Talking about her formative years in the USA Lissy said, “I regularly played in bars when I was living in America, I loved the atmosphere of it. For me, playing shows and writing songs has been a natural process of growing up, getting the adrenalin as each gig gradually got bigger. I think the start of anything is always the toughest and some gigs are better than others, it’s part of the craft. But for me the best gigs are when everyone falls quiet to listen to the songs and everyone is in the same moment, it’s really powerful.”
Returning to the UK in 2017 to continue her studies at BIMM Manchester, Lissy continued to perform with her band at music venues and festivals including Neverworld, Y Not and 110 Above as well as being the solo support for a UK Tour in October 2019. Lissy graduated BIMM with a First class honours BA in Songwriting in 2020 and released her debut single ‘Mayday’ in January 2020 which gained recognition from industry bloggers including a premiere with CLASH magazine. Since then she has gained the likes of BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, Absolute Radio and many features across BBC regional networks. BBC Introducing Stoke championed Lissy with her song ‘Quiet Rage’, entering her as the regional act for the national BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge emerging artist competition.
