With their upcoming EP “To Be Pure” set for release on 22nd October 2021 via Klang Wang Records, Weak Tyrant bring us the first single from this collection of songs - “ Slide”.
“Slide” tells the story of the search for our destinies, origins, meaning and the deep thoughts that occupy our minds on a daily basis. Taking these steps to a further stage, “Slide” expresses the feeling of loss of sight of what is essential in this process and how out of no where thoughts become a burden and a heavy load you carry with you.
The four records appearing on the “To Be Pure” EP blur the lines of genres falling within indie rock, post-hardcore and emo-pop-punk broadening the audience for the bands music. The riffs within the tracks remain melodic and combine with mainly clean vocals however intensity oozes from the songs and emotions break through truly giving birth to a different kind of musical language.
The tremendous music video to "Slide" premieres later today (or available now as you read this) and it is brilliantly directed by Greta Eggimann. Bringing a new dimension to the song yet complimenting it well, the video is a must-watch.
Hailing from Bern, Switzerland, Weak Tyrant can be seen as a stylistic experiment with all five of the band members coming from current or previous places in other hardcore/ stoner/ Swiss metal projects such as Horace, Chelsea Deadbeat Combo, and Hot Running Blood. This EP can be seen as a new musical direction for the freshly formed band.
