We Chat With THE LUNAR KEYS Who Have Just Released Their New Single 'Oxygen Type'

OSM: Who are The Lunar Keys? And where are you from?
(We) The Lunar Keys are 4 anxious types from the suburbs of London with too many tunes and nervous
energy trapped in our psyches not to be in this band.

OSM: Your new single, ‘Oxygen Type’’, is out now. What was the general songwriting process and are there any interesting stories around the recording?
The melody and the words for the verse came to us in the car driving to a Gig and we were shouting the guitar riff. We recorded that a phone and built the song from there - so the energy was there from the start.
Its also the first track where we've all been the big London Studio studio as a complete band together,
recording it as live as possible to capture the energy. It is also the first take we did.


OSM: From your point of view, what is the song about, what is its message?
The feeling you get to impulsively launch into the night,
on a high, bursting with total excitement at living every breath of a prospective night out to the maximum.
Experiencing the little disturbia that chimes with it.

OSM: What challenges have you faced since launching your career?
A two year Pandemic after we formed - we had to knuckle down and write songs so it may have worked in our favour.

OSM: What are the plans for the year ahead for The Lunar Keys?

We recently played the Lechlade festival also Gigs in London and Guildford . We have plans for a couple more Festival appearances TBC this summer. Then World Domination of course.

OSM: If you could change anything about the industry what would it be?
Artists coming together to control how the music is presented and paid for. A sort of Musicians Union Tik Tok.
Also protecting the endangered species of smaller live venues where WE ALL LEARN OUR CRAFT"!! Otherwise you'll have endless solo artists with a laptop, backing track and autotune..

OSM: If you could share the stage with another band or performer who would it be?
Starcrawler (Love that band)

OSM: Who are some of the main influences of your music?
Muse - Fleetwood Mac - The Police - The Killers - Arcade Fire - Nirvana - The Strokes.

OSM: What songs are on your playlist right now, which songs are you into at the moment?
Anything by Yonaka or StarCrawler - Muse - AC DC - Chet Baker - Lets Get Lost (Cherish that)
