Retail meets music as iconic industry figure Liam Gallagher merges with esteemed department store Selfridges to present a new authentic collection of clothing and merchandise, coinciding with his anticipated third album release, ‘C’mon You Know’.
Gallagher boasts a career steeped in fame, worldwide acclaim, and a sprinkling of notoriety, and in 2022, the former lead vocalist of Oasis has celebrated his endeavours with the exciting collaboration. Playing momentous sell-out shows last month at Knebworth Park, the products now reside in each of the three major Selfridges stores: London; Manchester Exchange Square; and Manchester Trafford Square.
Selfridges have been a staple in the high-end retail scene since being founded by Harry Gordon Selfridge in 1908, maintaining a creative and innovative aura that serves the distinguished store in providing a magnificent and wonderfully eccentric shopping experience. A glistening array of brands have a salient presence within the new collection, with the likes of Barbour, C.P. Company, Finlay, Nigel Cabourn, Sage Nation, and Snow Peak, certain to catch the eye of many a shopper.
The release also includes new designs from Manchester Metropolitan University fashion students Niamh & Aoife Dobson and Hari Thavanendran, offering a compelling and refreshing gush of air into the project, with thrilling new ideas aplenty.
Gallagher’s distinctive and fashionable looks go in tandem with his musical presence, with deep earthy parka jackets sewed into the artist’s identity like a thread and needle at the hands of a dexterous tailor. These factors unite to reaffirm Gallagher’s star quality; the critically acclaimed figure is simply tailormade to spearhead such a project.
Sam Eldridge, a member of Gallagher’s management team, said this: “Liam Gallagher is not only one of the greatest rock stars of all time but a true fashion icon and pioneer whose style and influence can be seen from high streets to festival fields across the country. We are delighted to be partnering with the iconic Selfridges store for these unique events.”
Bosse Myhr, Director of Menswear and Womenswear at Selfridges, heaped praise on the project, paying homage to Gallagher’s legacy: “This collection is an iconic way to celebrate the unquestionable impact Liam has had on British style. Liam’s direct involvement with the brands in both designing and curating products is a true point of difference and the inclusion of graphics that have been designed by young Manchester talent is a great reference to Liam’s roots.”
Now well under way, the options are endless, and the partnership has forged a successful alliance between two perpetual figures in the respective industries. Gallagher x Selfridges is a collaboration certainly worth the attention of anybody looking to boast an arresting new style, and despite the price range, the finely crafted materials ooze with style and will have heads turning as one emerges with their arresting new look.
The licensing and retail team from Warner Music's WMX fronted the collaboration.
