Welcome to the OSM new single releases round up. Each week select just a few tunes that have most caught our attention. We hope the collection helps you through this next week. As ever, we will start with this week’s Single Of The Week. It’s the new drop from the Dublin-based TV People. They’re a group who’ve been steadily making waves in the UK’s music scene in recent months. The new tune, ‘Circle’ is the second to be taken from their forthcoming EP and showcases a dark, sludgy take on contemporary post-punk. With lyrics that center around deep emotions, and instrumentation that keeps you within them, ‘Circle’ has added immensely to the excitement around this band.
Moving on to more new releases this week and we have a debut release. It comes from the Manchester-based Redeemers and is called ‘Venue Affair’. The track doesn’t beat around the bush and gets straight to the point with its distorted, naughties-inspired guitar lines. The quick-fire lyricism bares the influence of a young Alex Turner, while infectious instrumentation emboldens the youthful escapism the tune centres around.
Next up is the new drop from the Sheffield-based Vivas. Their new tune, titled ‘It’s Alright’ came out late last month and is the group’s second drop of 2022. The track ebbs and flows through a positive sounding indie rock sound. Sounding slightly brighter than its preceding single, the tune points to the band’s continued development.
The Madisons are next on this week’s playlist with their new tune, ‘You’re At It Again’. The song - which is the group’s second single - combines elements of Arctic Monkeys and The Beatles to create a bright and fresh sounding alt-indie tune. Succeeding in being both catchy and elemental, it showcases a different sound to what we’ve previously heard. A great sophomore record.
Next is a more pop-inspired tune. It comes from the Los Angeles-based solo artist, Lily Lane. Her new tune, ‘Bad’ was dropped last week and exhibits a southing and soulful side to the singer. Stripped back instrumentation puts Lane’s vocal at the centre throughout; bringing an empowering, vulnerable, and danceable sound that reaffirms her as one of the key talents right now.
Sticking with LA acts, this next one comes from Milly. Their new tune, named ‘Ring True’ is the second to be offered from their forthcoming album. The tune - which began life as a poem - combines elements of rock and alt-country to create an expansive soundscape that sees the band sounding as free as they ever have.
Finally for this week, we have the new feel-good tune from Cody Feechan. The track - appropriately named ‘Dance With Me’ - sees the Scottish solo artist embracing her alt-rock sound, but also adding elements of EDM to showcase a euphoric and experimental side to the artist. Definitely worth checking out.
