Solo artist, Junkheart has dropped the latest addition to the soundtrack of his own imagined movie.
The track, named ‘Black & Blue’, is the third chapter of the Junkheart story and centers around its protagonist feeling alienated by his local community and dreaming of becoming a rockstar.
The lyrics of the track find its protagonist at his lowest ebb and they touch on dark themes of depression, jealousy, self-medication and self destruction. The tracks released prior to this one touch on similar themes of youth, love, and confusion.
Musically, Junkheart mixes modern production, retro guitars and vintage synth sounds to create a dreamy environment in which his story has the room to develop. His general sound takes inspiration from the likes of Tame Impala, Tears for Fears and Billie Eilish; influences he uses to mould his creative synth-pop sound.
Black & Blue is the third of six chapters, being released monthly, culminating in the debut EP 'In Gloom’. The artwork for each song pays homage to his love of comics and alludes to his story, which he also intends to turn into a graphic novel.
