Island Empire are singer Ellie Madeland and multi instrumentalist Chris Howe, who have been writing and performing together since 2018. Last year they released their debut album, 'Olympian' and this new single release, 'Ghost Ships', heralds a new post-lockdown era for the duo.
'Ghost Ships' is a call back to the golden era of synth pop yet maintains contemporary, with the help of an inspired vocal from Madeland. Inspired by 80's movie soundtracks and New Wave, Island Empire wear their influences on their sleeve and for good measure.
About the track, they say: "Ghost Ships is a call to anybody who is held back by self doubt, who bottles up their emotions or doesn't like to reveal their true selves to get out there and show the world what they've got."
Hailing from London, Island Empire both share an obsession with synth pop. Vocalist Ellie Madeland studied at The BIMM School and Chris Howe has a background in music production. Together they have not only released the previously mentioned album 'Olympian' but also three EP's worth of material. Their songwriting output is nothing short of prolific and this new single, 'Ghost Ships' is a shining addition to their discocgrahy.
'Ghost Ships' is out now on all major streaming platforms.
