During the midst of the 2020 lockdown, three old friends started writing together to pass time. They've now got a band called slowride, and they have today released their latest single ‘As Above/So Below’.
slowride blends alternative rock and indietronica together to produce anthemic, stadium-ready pop with a natural conscience. Produced by Isaac Carpenter from US juggernauts AWOLNATION and mastered by the world-renowned engineer Vlado Mellor (Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chilli Peppers), their new single explores the conversation about life through an existential lens. It scours the highs and lows of life, bringing listeners on a journey with them.
Despite only being at its genesis, slowride have already built a fruitful and zesty foundation to a promising musical endeavour. They are yet to play any live gigs, but they have built an envious following on Spotify in their one year together.
Their second most recent release ‘Forever in My Head’ is on the cusp of hitting that desired 20,000 listen mark. Elsewhere, their listeners span across the globe, stretching as far as Peru and Mexico in the monthly listeners section of their profile. It is perhaps their ability to create music which doesn’t need to be listened deeply to enjoy that has sparked a fire in foreign lands.
Nevertheless, it’s a great listen and one that is recommended to be played at full volume. With its vibrant electronic sounds and orientating guitar riffs, it’s a perfect way to start your day… or end it if you’re a night person!
