Pale Waves this week released one of their most touching tracks to date in 'The Hard Way'. The emotional single is taken from their upcoming new album 'Unwanted' which is released on August the 12th.
'The Hard Way' is Pale Waves' Heather Baron-Gracie's favourite track from the band's upcoming third studio album. Detailing her battle with loss, Heather outlines: "When I was in high school a girl who was being bullied took her own life. I got on the bus with her every single morning, and I would see her sitting in her same spot. She sat downstairs and I would go upstairs. The Hard Way is about my regret for not helping her, or standing up for her, that I feel now as an adult. As a kid, you’re so shy and afraid, but I hope it will influence people to stand up for those who need help, and help people understand that their words and actions can be really damaging. You don’t know how cruel you can be sometimes, especially at that age.”
'The Hard Way' is the fourth song to be featured from the upcoming new album Unwanted, with Pale Waves previously premiering impressive tracks 'Jealousy', 'Lies' and Reasons To Live'. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Zakk Cervini and features thirteen cuts. Unwanted unleashes a more hard-rock sound from the band; “I didn’t want any of those jangly, picky, high up on the fretboard guitars,” says Heather Baron-Gracie. “I wanted heavy distortion and chaos and power. So Unwanted had to be honest, provocative, and loud. Not only thematically but in the music as well.”
Pale Waves are making in-store appearances throughout August and are touring the UK in November. Tickets and further information can be found here.
